Project Description
There is a huge amount of personalised web content.
Yet, in general, there is no easy way for a person to scrutinise the personalisation,
to determine what has been personalised and why.
So, for example, if the personalisation is bizarre, there is no way to determine why this happened.
SASY explores how to give users the ability to scrutinise the personalisation of web content by
providing a framework for creating and delivering what we call scrutably personalised web content.
In a series of usability studies, we refined the scrutability tools.
In a large scale field trial, we observed how learners chose to make use of these tools.
Notably, they played a role in supporting reflection, an important metacognitive skills.
